about us
Camela Langendorf
After spending a life-changing semester at the age of 19 in the beautiful country of Australia and the South Pacific, I returned home excited to share my photos taken with my Olympus SureShot only to discover they lacked the energy and power that I felt in the moment I took them. Upon discussing this phenomenon with my father, he pulled out his manual Nikon SLR, introduced the basics of light and exposure to me, and my photographic journey began. Over the last decade I have continued to pursue his interest and I love how photography allows me to blend my desire to be artistic with my nature to be scientific (or maybe the other way around!). With the birth of my two sons, my focus has transitioned from shooting red barns and flowers to capturing the subtle beauty of children exploring and families connecting. My goal as a photographer is to catch a glimpse of people connecting to each other or within themselves by capturing the magic of light as it illuminates all of our lives.
Images by Camela began on a whim, quite honestly not the career or path I ever planned or imagined for myself. I have a degree in physical therapy that I also love and share with my mother, who truly embodies the field with her whole self; however, my passions took a turn and a life of their won in the form of this business. At this point I cannot imagine doing anything else. The lessons I have learned about myself through running a business have been extremely rewarding, as well as incredibly humbling. I am truly blessed to have had this opportunity fall into my lap. I share my life with my best friend and husband, Brian, and two lovable and crazy boys, Andrew and Adam…that always keep me focused on what is truly important in life. All my best, Camela.

I’m excited to be teaming up with Camela to assist with operations at Images by Camela Studio & Gallery! The new location at 510 College had more space than before and with that comes opportunity! Lots of it! The possibilities are infinite and Cam and I have been brainstorming and prioritizing. Don’t mean to be cagey here, but stay tuned, there’s a lot to look forward to!
Looking back, it’s neat to see how Camela’s passion for photography has evolved. I’ve been fortunate to be involved in the latter part of this photo evolution! We’ve got some great memories of early ‘photo shoots’ and I never could have anticipated such an amazing transformation. I’m thrilled that Camela’s talents are now recognized professionally and that so many people get to have their memories captured by her. She truly does outstanding work.
